Therapy for Couples, Individuals & Trauma
WA & OR
Seeking therapy is not an easy choice and finding a therapist that feels like the right fit for you is one of the most important parts of the process. I would like to tell you a little bit about the kinds of therapy I do and what I am able to offer, and hopefully we can work together to make sure we are a good fit for each other. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families in therapy. I have experience working with families from many diverse backgrounds, individuals with a wide variety of concerns, and couples from dating, to many years of marriage, and through divorces and reconciliation. Please continue below to find out more about each type of therapy. I am happy to work with you on individual issues as well as family or couple concerns. Please contact me so we can discuss your particular situation and create the best treatment plan to meet your needs.
Intimate Relationship Therapy
Choosing to seek therapy to support your relationship is an excellent first step towards healing. I have always enjoyed working with couples and intimate relationships because I believe that if we can create balance in our primary relationships, that will support balance in our other relationships. I have worked with couples on issues such as infidelity, fertility, pregnancy and parenting, communication, deployment and reintegration, separation, divorce, reconciliation, and non traditional relationship/family structures.
I value building a strong working relationship with all relationship participants so it is important that we work all together throughout the process of therapy. If you are curious if couple/relationship therapy is the best option for you and your partner/s, please contact me so we can talk and figure out how best to move forward with treatment. Please also see my information about somatic attachment therapy below as that informs much of my work with relationships.
Individual Therapy
My training is in systems theory which guides my work. What this means for individual therapy is that I believe we are constantly impacted by our relationships; relationship to our self, relationships with people, our environment, or the community, for example. I believe it is important to take into account all of those elements when we set goals and create changes in your life. Systems theory believes that a change in any one element will create a ripple that effects all the other elements within and around us. It is my hope that I can work with you to achieve your goals and create a greater ripple in your world. I work from an emotion focused and somatic lens. I am guided by a great many therapists and mentors including Sue Johnson, Gabor Mate, Bessel van der Kolk, and Peter Levine. I want to learn about your relationship to your own body, mind, and spirit as well as to your history, trauma, and gifts. Through this work and discovery together, I really believe we can find a greater sense of peace, self love, and security.
Please note I work with people 18 years and older.
Let’s chat about how I be supportive to you!
Somatic Attachment Therapy
Our minds and bodies are inextricably connected. I find it of the utmost importance to attend to ourselves holistically and it is my great privilege to do exactly that with you. I have completed an additional certification in somatic attachment therapy which really focuses on the physiological experiences of attachment, security, and safety in relationship with ourselves and others. The work then is how to create more safety in all of those relationships and how we experience the world around us. I’d be honored to explore this with you!
